Adelaide Pop Culture Festival 2009 |

| The South Australian Museum, located in the heart of the City of Adelaide, was the venue for the Adelaide Pop Culture Festival, National Science Week Event, which was conducted from August 15-22, 2009. The festival was organised by Terra Nova Events, Mr Stuart Blair, and attracted visitors of all ages during the week long celebration of popular culture. |

Upon entering the museum, visitors were impressed by the many colourful display of costumes from some of their favourite TV shows and films as well as being able to view rare pieces of memorabilia from years gone by. Members fromAdelaide Sci-Fi Club - Starship Mawson,volunteered their time over the week to assist in the setting up of the exhibition as well as being there to answer questions from the curious visiting public. |
Bringing back the memories was one of the many comments mentioned as visitors viewed the pieces on exhibition! |

Day One of the festival included The Ultimate Quiz Night, that took place on Saturday evening at the Police Club of Adelaide and proved to be a real highlight! A complete sellout ensured a fantastic atmosphere with great anticipation of just what types of questions were going to be posed. |

Key members of the Terra Nova Crew, Marlene, Gerri, Eugenia, Sarah and Therese, were the official Quiz Masters and were given great praise for their skills in what was a highly polished and most enjoyable evening for all. The Police Club management, Heather and Greg, provided and excellent service of quality food and beverages and a venue that is perfect for a large social event. |

There were large attendances for both days of workshops in Special Effects Prosthetics construction and Costume Design and Makeup, with some classes being standing room only! |

Wednesday August 19th brought many budding Astronomers to an evening of Stargzing with Starship Mawson. The evening proved to be a fun and educational one with presenter Mr Peter Lindner, who passed on his enthusiasm and knowledge of our universe to the many adults and children that viewed the stars above through telescopes that were set up by Peter and Starship Mawson member, Adrian Grivell. |

| The Adelaide Pop Culture Festival along with the many other events that made up National Science Week event at the South Australian Museum, attracted over 26,000 visitors and proved to be a complete success with us all looking forward to an even bigger presentation next year!
